Focus has a paradox: the attention that makes deep work valuable also makes you blind to the clock.
Timebox is a calm macOS menu-bar timer that holds time for you, so you can stop checking the clock and start finishing what matters.
Download for MacThe floating pill — always visible, never modal. Sits in your periphery the entire session.
When you're in flow, your perception of time compresses. You reliably underestimate how long you've been working, miss the end of your block, and emerge two hours late wondering where the day went. And every glance at the clock — every task switch, however small — leaves cognitive residue that degrades your performance for minutes afterward.
So you have a choice: keep checking the time and shred your focus, or don't check and lose track of the day.
Timebox removes the choice. The floating pill externalizes time for you. You glance at it; you don't think about it. Your brain stops spending cycles on "what time is it?" and gets those cycles back for the work — the same reason writers use outlines and pilots use checklists.
Press ⌘⌥T from anywhere. Type a duration + task, or / for the command palette. Hit return. The pill appears and stays out of your way.
